Soooo, let me guess. You now have a Mercruiser 470 from 1983 hooking up to an OMC stringer electric shift right?

You can get them from a Merc dealer, as long as it's not a harness designed by the boat builder (which is quite common) then you would have to go to the boat builder(SeaRay) Or, get the OEM and splice it in to the helm and use the plug at the engine.
You could also make your own.

I thought about making my own. I can get the marine grade wire cheap enough but i haven't been able to find the terminals for the plug end. Plus when u factor in the time to make one compared to the cost of maybe just buying one already made up.

Here's a link to the place I have been looking at getting a new harness for my boat. Down towards the bottom of the page you will see boat harnesses with the Mercruiser style Cannon plug. I am not sure what you have at the helm of your boat, but they also sell harness to replace the section for your gauges etc along with a kit for redoing the engine part... Their boat harnesses looked to be a LOT cheaper than what I had found for direct replacement ones.

I have not heard any feedback from anyone on the quality or anything like that.

The adapter harness for Volvo to OMC/Mercruiser might come in handy for anyone out there doing an engine swap.
