I posted a couple weeks ago re-my fuel system and was advised to re do it due to an unsafe and non marine set up. I installed a marine pump with built in regulator for my carb. Here is the wiring I'm doing. This is a little different because I'm not starting the switch from the starter switch but instead from a momentary switch at the helm to be able to prime and avoid cold cranking. The only back feed I can see is to the momentary switch which shouldn't matter because the circuit will be open, right??

Is my thinking good on this? I've plumbed it today and will wire it tomorrow afternoon. Ya'll mind taking a look and giving me feed back in case there's something I'm not considering.

Re: Wiring electric pump VP570

A couple of suggestions on your diagram.
1. Assuming the power from the starter is the main terminal on the starter solenoid, I would suggest you put a fuse (sized for your pump) near the starter to protect the wiring. (see drawing below)

2. On the wiring on the relay, you only want the wire going from the S terminal of the OP switch going to the 87 terminal of the relay. In your drawing you have them jumpered. If they were jumpered together, the pump would run anytime the battery was hooked up.

Thanks on the fuse.

The relay is single throw, for Jeep lights and that. Both poles N/O (87 and 87), but I guess they still don't need to be jumped.

Thanks Don!!

If it was only single throw, there would not be an 87A terminal shown in your diagram.
When not energized terminals 30 and 87A are connected internally.
When energized, terminals 30 and 87 are connected internally.

There's not, mine just says SPST. I tested to make sure (common and ground=no power on either 87's) (common, ground and switch=power at both 87's)

I went after a SPDT, but the store only had this one (It's for KC lights on an off road rig, at least that's what the picture on the package shows and for less than 5bucks). I may go ahead and wire a bullet to one of them, add an indicator light later on (visual the the relay is getting power).

Thanks for the impute!!
