Re: Wiring Adapter

The first question to ask is what functions you're eliminating by adapting down the trailer. Typically if the trailer has more than four wires it has trailer brakes. Safety is something you don't want to mess with. :( And disabling the brakes is definately a safety no-no.
For more info on towing safley, check out this post question. There's lots of good info regarding towing safely.
web page

Re: Wiring Adapter

If there are six wires on the trailer they probably go somewhere. As David states you need to find out what the wires go to. You need to get the truck rewired to meet the needs of the trailer.

Re: Wiring Adapter

Thanks guys!
I realize the problem with eliminating the brake wire. I need to pull the new trailer with the 6-way home with my Ranger from Canon City(about 60m). The trailer is a tandem axle utility that is 5'x14'. It will be empty when I bring it home. Gotta use the Ranger because my other truck that is wired for the 6-way is down at the moment.

Re: Wiring Adapter

If the trailer is empty and the Ranger is empty(other than yourself) I don't see a problem. Make sure the lights are working, keep safe distance and good luck.
