Wiring 650

Same motor as mentioned in above post. '69 650.<br /><br />On the wiring harness,plug side, above the wiring harness there is an electrical device, that looks like a heat sink, two wires, one from each end, are routed up into the top part of the motor, under the flywheel. The third wire, in the center of this device is not connected to anything. In the wiring harness there is a red wire that is not connected. This red wire tests to have 12v current. Should these two be connected?

I believe that device your talking about is the rectifier,on my 68 model 650 that red wire does go to the harness,the other to wires are yellow and go up under the flywheel.<br /><br /> PROPWASH.
