Wired for SC can still just use as tiller?

I know this is a total newbie question,but I am buying a motor wired for a steering column,but I need a hand tiller,does that wiring get in the way of anything?

93 Johnson 25,it's all good,the cables disconnect at the motor and stay on the boat,thanks anyway's,man I got alot to learn!!
