I need to wire the car for a trailer and was told there is some kind of coupler to get instead of trying to connect each individual wire. Any help would be appreciated.

There are many styles of connectors for the car side. They have a few in this site as well as www.easternmarine.com.

What is on the trailer you are connecting to?

It is a whole new light kit for both car and trailer so there isn't any old stuff to worry about.

Depends on the year of the car.
You will find a kit for a 1998, but not for a 1970.

If you are talking about a connector that can hook into the vehicles existing wiring harness you are going to have a tough time finding that. If you had a truck, that would be a different story.

Is that what you are talking about? My mind reading skills are a little slow today!

the simplest is to call a gm dealer. i realize you can't call an olds dealer anymore. they are usually pretty universal in gm's.

This is not rocket science and trips to the dealer are not necessary. As was mentioned, you will not likely find the wire harness that simply plugs in. Check the wire harness going to each tail light assembly. You will find a brown wire going to each tail light. Thats the tail or running lights. Buy the standard 4-wire pig tail and connect the brown wire to the brown wire on the car. One lamp assembly on the car has a green wire and the other has a yellow. Those are the turn signals. Connect those to the same color wire on the pigtail. White is ground. Fasten the white wire on the pigtail to a good clean chassis ground. You are done.

I am ztim..had to re-up due to the fact for some reason the password won't work.

I know it is not rocket science. The 1984 Delta 88 Royal does not have an exposed wire harness that I can see. I have a new lighting set up for the car and trailer and it has directions as to what color wire is for what. I already removed the trailer junk that was on there and am looking for cannon plug in the car harness. At least that is what I was told. Maybe a trip to a GM dealer would have to be taken.

You are not going to find any plug in the harness.

Well Bruce, I did find a plug (connector) in the harness. And it looks just like some trailer light connectors I have seen at Wally World. I now have to find the right kind for the car.

Re: wire for Delta 88

You are making this way too difficult. I drove Oldmobiles for years and I installed a trailer harness on every one of them. The wires are accessable in the trunk or by removing the tail lamp assembly.

Bob,

Where was this connector and how many pins does it have?

I agree with silvertip...After you determine if those wires are indeed your lights, I would wire in right there and not bother trying to find a mating connector.

Post a picture of what you found and maybe it will look familiar to someone.

Re: wire for Delta 88

The connector is on the floor of the trunk (left side) and is flat and wide with six places on the side where the wires from the front of the car connect.

The wires are bare near there and I can splice there with the splicers I got with the wire kit.

Now I will see if there is a place to feed the wires through the floor in front of where the hitch will be.

Thanks

Re: wire for Delta 88

Leave the harness in the trunk. There is enough gap and weather strip that the flat cable will not be damaged when you close the trunk. This keeps the cable and connector out of the weather.
