Winterizing

Im a new user and I was wondering If anyone knew how(the best way) to winterize a yamaha 15 2 stroke? I have never even opened a motor cover but I am willing to learn alot! <br /><br />John

Welcome to the forum, if you haven't already go to search and type in winterizing. There should be plenty there to start with and I'm sure more great advice to come.Alot of knowledge here, and people here don't mind helping!! ;)

I have also heard about "seafoam" from previous posts. I have a can and it says to pour through the caruretor throttle body. Where is this and how do you get there. Thanks!<br /><br />John

Well O/B John one question that I am sure will be asked is where you are from and will the motor sit up long enough to justify winterizing it. A little more info along those lines will help with a specific answer. There are different ways to winterize and your duration of lack of use and area you are from will play a part in the way that may suit you best. I use mine year around so my knowledge on the subject is limited!! <br /><br />Taz

Well even down here in alabama it gets a little too cold for me to boat! I am probably going to winterize it 3-4 months. Its too late for me this year so I am running it every 3-4 weeks. Thanks for all of the response!<br /><br />John
