I have a 1974 120hp OMC I/O that has caused me some grief for winterizing. A note on the engine block says to refer to owners manual, but I purchased the boat second hand. It has draincocks at the rear of the block, but at the end of our Canadian winter, I had a large crack in the manifold. Obviously I missed something in the process. Any hints greatly appreciated. Thanks

Muskie I have a Yammie(HA HA) I/O and it has a drain **** under the back end of the manifold on the right side. I opened it one year and it didn't drain. Plugged with fine dirt. Luckily I only lost a freeze plug. Can't to look. RESPECTFULLY BART (LANDLOCKED) SR.

Should have a drain on port side of engine near stern and also on stern end of manifold. If when you open them they do not drain push a wire up into them to clear any rust.

After you drain the water from your block, close your pitcocks, open the highest hose connection in the system, and fill with RV antifreeze (alchohol). That way, if there's stray water in the system, it won't cause a problem. You can also use auto antifreeze, but you'll have a hard time not polluting when you put the boat back in the water.
