I’ve only owned my 1996 Chaparral Mercruiser 5.7L for two seasons. Last year I had the Chap dealer winterize it but this year I’d like to do it myself.

Where can I find good diagram of where ALL the drains are on this engine?

Re: Winterizing Newbie

In the owners manual or service manual for YOUR particular engine.
But to be honest, if I had to depend on any book to tell me what had to be drained, I would be worried I might have something a little different. Owner add-ons after market cooling systems, heaters etc. can all change what you need to do to the system.
Your BEST bet is to get a qualified mechanic to show you what has to be drained on your particular engine.

I have a 1987-89 Mercrusier with block with antifreeze and seawater with heat exchanger. How do I drain the heat exchanger and what does it look like? Is there a diagram for this unit? Also, How do I drain the manifold? Sorry for these dumb questions but I'm new at this kind of motor. I have always owned a regular Mercruser motor and take out the 5 drain plugs. Thanks for you advise, Daley20

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,...

You'll have to start a thread of yer own, rather than hy-jacking this antique...
