Winterizing is it necessary if you run the motor every 2 weeks or so? The mechanic at travis boat said to run motor at fast idle till warm up every 2 weeks. I dont have any neibors near out here in the country. So noise not a problem unless it scares the deer.Thanks a bunch lw

heycods,<br /><br />Thru the years I have found many people who do nothing but turn the key off in November,and back on in April.And have no problems what so ever.<br /><br />But they are far outweighed by the ones who need carb work,who have cracked gear housings,who have seized engines, ... get my drift ?<br /><br />If everything goes right for you,you'll still be running 6 month old gas thru your carbs towards the end.So I don't see your mechanics reasoning.<br /><br />Please relize I am writting in New England,and can only give my point of view from here,as I know the winters here.<br /><br />DHP

Where I live it will freze maby 10 times this winter. I do check gear oil in lower unit regularly. I am subject to go fishing on any warm day all through the winter, daytime temps probably average 60 deg. in winter here. chances are fuel will be burnt sevral times befour spring. thanks lw

Sounds like you got it covered.Maybe pull the prop once and awhile to clean fishline off and lube the splines,but my hunch you all ready do that.<br /><br />Have a great winter.<br /><br />DHP

Hello ,<br /> We run Stabil in our fuel, swap out the lube and run carbon guard to get the muck out of the combustion area.....Starting that first time will scar your cyl walls if any carbon turned hard enough to stick rings.....<br /> Gas will only last 60 days without the additive.<br /> Also lift the motor up and down to ensure all water has drained out.<br /> Goodluck!<br /> TM

I have run it in lawnmowers ect. but didnt know about running it in two cycle. thanks .lwr
