Winterizing boat

I've read the previous posts on preparing my boat for storage and have read the manual and understand the process. The boat will be stored in a covered storage unit in an area that routinely gets down to zero and below for long periods. Is there anything additional I should do before putting it in storage? We don't want any unexpected problems next spring. Thanks in advance for any advise.

Re: Winterizing boat

Of course, remove anything that might freeze and remove any electronics, such as Fishfinders, Battery, Ect, that are not pemanantly mounted. Since it is in a covered storage unit, you should have no problems with Critters. It is also a good idea to spray your Engine down with a light coating of WD-40, to protect it during lay-up. If you do all the other recommended procedure, you should be good to go in the spring!

It never hurts to place an open container of mothballs under the cover to keep out mice etc.,...just in case.<br />Also,if you have a livewell in your boat, drain any noticable water then pour plumbing antifreeze into your livewell and circulate just long enough to flow it thru pumps and tubing to prevent freezing of any remaining water in the system.
