Great site, Im, looking forward to icreasing my boating education over the winter. I have a 1980 85 horse Johnson. I live in a fairly mild climate. How long can my motor sit unused before I should winterize it. Can I avoid this if I fire it up and run it for 10 minutes or so every week ,month what?
TKS

Re: Winterize

a boat motor needs to be winterized before it freezes. the water in the motor can freeze and break the housing.
you also need to drain the carbs and fill with fuel stabilyzer so they dont varnish over the winter. starting the motor only does good while it is runing.

good luck in whatever you decide!
louis
