In preparation for winterizing my Volvo-Penta 5.0L GL-c/d I/O I am wondering if RV holding tank winterization fluid can be used in the engine block, manifolds, and complete cooling system in general? How much fluid - of any appropriate type - needs to be used?<br />Thanks in advance.

Re: Winterization fluids

It depends what you get. There are NON-TOXIC antifreezes that can be used for both but you must be careful what you buy. Most are not compatible and most ARE toxic. If you empty the holding tank prior to winterizing you can add two gallons flushing it through the toilet and then evacuate some through the macerator so everything has some antifreeze in it.Charlie
