Does anyone utilize this method? I have never seen it recommended in any service manuals for an older merc 2-stroke but some people have said they just run a special mix of fuel, fogging oil and stabilizer for about 10 minutes rather than pulling the plugs and fogging the cylinders.

I was told something similiar for a newer 4 stroke by a Merc mechanic. He recommended a mixture of fuel, 2 stroke oil, and stabilizer for 4 stroke motor.

Be very careful what you pass through the fuel injectors (if applicable). You may be doing more harm than good. It would take a great deal of fogging oil to do any good as it is being mixed with fuel which would negate the purpose of the fogging oil.

Thanks. I don't think I will try it. Too many conflicting stories out there...

How much fogging oil do I spray into each cylinder?

How much fogging oil do I spray into the carbs?

Do all of the other winterization first so that treated fuel is pulled into the entire fuel system. Then spray fogging oil into the air intake for each cylinder until the engine stalls. If you can't kill the engine with fogging oil, hit each cylinder quickly and then when the engine begins to slow down, turn off the ignition. Remove the plugs, give each cylinder a squirt, turn the engine by hand a round or two, insert the plugs and put the boat to bed.
