My boat is almost ready for, "The BIG Sleep" until spring.
Never one to "leave well enough alone", I'm doing some "stuff" to her. (the list gets longer each day)!!
On my bow, put a foot controlled, (cable?) E- Lectric trolling motor, (I had adapted a transom mounted motor. Worked good, but hard to fish and steer).
I have a on/off switch for power, a old fish finder, (more for checking how much water is under the hull).
I was wondering IF I should wire in a volt meter?
Turn the trolling motor power on and it'd come on too.
It'd be on telling me how many volts left in which ever battery I have switched on.
(I never had a problem of using up a battery last season).
I'm I getting outta control or is this something other boat have?

joetheis, I am installing a battery gauge as well with a selector switch to flip between the cranking battery and the trolling motor battery. I am even making a circuit the will illuminate a red LED if either battery gets too low. So I don't see installing a battery gauge as going over board (pun not intended but it works). JMHO!

Cool!
I bought a battery gauge with a switch to check both batteries from Cabela's last summer when I stopped by.
I thought about installing that at my dash to give a quick check of the batteries before launching her.
I'll pick up a water proof gauge at a boat store by me and drop it in!

I have a habit of "tweeking" until I screw it up-BIG time!
