Winter Storage - Grease on cables

What is the best lubricant/grease to put on the throttle cables and throttle cable assembly within the engine housing on a 9.9 HP mercury O/B motor for winter storage outside? I am in Ottawa, Canada, so the winters can get pretty cold and damp.

I use boat trailer wheel bearing grease on cables and zercs, exposed bolt heads and anything else that can rust. Corrosion guard on the block is useful as well.
