Hate to rub it in to my fellow iboaters in more Northern climes, but it has been so nice down here this "winter" in Fl that I to take the boat out yesterday and take some pics and make a little vid. The sun was shinning, the water was like glass and I made it home in piece. A good day all and all. Hope everyone had a great Thanisgiving. Enjoy!!!

Why is it that when someone starts a thread with "I hate to rub it in....", that I have an overwhelming certainty that they are smiling widely as they type?;)

......frozen glass :) If if makes y'all feel any better, the fish weren't biting and the noseeums were. It's actually suppose to get below freezing tonight, so I guess I made it out onto the water just in the knick of time.

It's 73 degrees out as I type, but winter doesn't begin until December 21st where I live. ;)

Yeah, this is just the last 1/3 of fall... we'll wait and see what kfa posts in January.

About 40 years ago my Dad got a photo in the mail from a friend that moved to Wickenburg, AZ from Omaha, Ne. He was sitting beside his pool in shorts, no shirt with a drink in hand and sun shining...it was January.

My Dad wouldn't be himself if he didn't respond. He took a lawn chair out into the 2' of snow in the backyard in his underwear and had my Mom take a picture of him with a Falstaff in hand. He sent it in the mail and felt as good as his friend.

Falstaff!... do they still make that stuff? Haven't seen that brand in years.

Our winters aren't usually too bad here in 'Bama, we get some nice days and some crappy days and some good years and bad years... but that damn 16" of snow back in March of '93 kicked my butt BIG TIME!!!

No longer. Ironically, the Falstaff plant in Omaha closed about a year after my Dad & Mom moved to Phoenix in '79...go figure.

We call that "flurries"...:)

Yeah, but y'all live in the Gret Whit Nord (or however you say it in Paris talk) and are kinda used to that kind of stuff... my wife is Canadian and I see how y'all act in that stuff, closing roads and pulling over to get a motel room in a "white out" that brings less than a foot of snow... but Ontario has it pretty bad because of the amount of wind that you have there, and it's all because Manitoba blows and Quebec sucks... so y'all can't help it.:p

Could it be possible that hurricanes form in the Southeast to try and eliminate the constant boasting? Nah, probably not.

... you forgot Tornadoes too!

But look what hurricane Sandy did to the southeast (almost nothing) and did to the northeast (havoc and destruction). hurricanes are equal opportunity storms on the east coast.

The west has earthquakes, wind driven wildfires and dust storms... which is worse?

I like it where I live, yeah it's hotter'n the blazes in summer... but the milder winters make-up for it. Yeah, we get hurricanes... but the rainfall is usually welcome even if it floods (kind of like an enema purging all the bad stuff out for a clean beginning), and as long as no one gets killed in a tornado it brings construction jobs to build what was torn down back.

You can find good and bad wherever you live, it's just whatever you get used to I guess.

Yep, and them up in the north like where they live too. Acclimation is a great thing given to us humans. I haven't felt an earthquake since Oct. 16 1999 and haven't had any flying insects in my face since I left the midwest. Humidity is almost non existant until a couple of weeks in August.

The north has beauty that we don't see in the desert and when they come here, they love to see Death Valley. We have a great country with many climates and that is a part of the wonder that is the USA.

I would love to see the S.E. before I die. Destin, FL is a goal for me.

Lived in Port Charlotte FL for 5 yrs. Loved it. The bottom fell out of the economy and had to get out of dodge. I was born n raised in NJ, But I hate it. I hate the weather and the people here, most have attitudes. I have inlaws in MN. Maybe we will end up out there. Yeah its cold there, but not like the humid cold here in Jerzey. Lots of lakes in MN too.

Well.....I guess 'I hate to rub it in' but I was in Florida once picking up a classic truck just outside of Orlando. To be quite honest, the overall appearance of what I saw was pretty sad and nowhere near the quality of life I've seen and experienced here up north.

There were abandoned cars on the side of the road with no wheels...just sitting? What nobody cleans this crap up? There were abandoned homes with the windows broken out...what is with that? Doesn't anybody buy these and fix them up and live in them? I'm sure they would be pretty cheap.
The general feeling of safety on the streets that I largely take for granted up here was, well missing. I couldn't imagine living there, it would be a compromise for the better part of my life. :)
On the upside, the weather in February was a nice short term break and I liked buying some tangerines at the gas station. As well, we really enjoyed spending a couple of days in Savannah (Georgia) and Charleston (S.C) which we found to have some very cool architecture and pretty great history. I would definitely consider visiting there again for a few days.:)
Sorry Floridians.....'but I calls 'em as I see'z em' and I stick to the data that says that quality of life has never been tied to air temperature...and for cryin' out loud, clean that place up!! ;):D
My two bits.

Man,not sure if you are flaming or holding back some. You saw a piece of Florida in your quest to pick up a classic truck. I will need to see the piece that I chose to visit before I can form an opinion. Was it bad everywhere in Fla. or just close to where you picked up the truck?

I don't understand why we all pick on each other because of where we live. Summers suck here.
