I had something driven home this winter. When you get over sixty and live way out in the sticks, winter creates a huge amount of work that just doesn't have the appeal it once did.
Soooo, I told the admiral that if we move I want to end up on the water. Don't care where really as long as it's decent sized water for boating and all that goes with it. (Water sports, fishing, etc.) I've been sort of looking via the internet but man it's all but impossible to actually find some thing with water frontage. Realtors apparently have no idea what that is because even when I use it as the primary search key I get listings of any thing you can stand on the roof and see some water in the results. They also seem to have funny idea's on what a single family dwelling is. Sorry but no, Condos are not single family dwellings, at least not that my checkbook recognizes.
So to all that live in the southern tier, what's the best way to look for property remotely? Would it make sense and contact a few realtors in various states and tell them via phone exactly what I am looking for or will that just get me more of what I've seen? I'd sure hate to have to go and actually look at all the places we have considered just to look at housing. Also, is it like it is here, you need to know someone on the inside to find the really good deals?
