Been fighting with my server all day re-installing XP Pro.

If you have problems installing anything in XP, make sure you have ADMINISTRATOR rights, or you're logged in as one.

I was logged in as admin, and it still wouldn't let me load programs. For some reason, the admin rights were disabled in the registry.

I still think a large caliber weapon would have did a better job on the problem, but...

H.

Re: Windows XP Pro Administrator privileges

tell me about it. I put in Win XP home, and now every time I boot up, the damn thing tries to dial my ISP. I have done everything I could think of to disable it and nothing works. I'll be working on one of the other programs and all of a sudden it is trying to log me in to the internet. I'm about ready to uninstall XP and go back to ME.

I had the same problem. I fixed and have forgotten how. I will try to remember and poke around to find the fix. In the meantime, maybe Hotbyte, or Duckcommander knows and will post a fix. Can someone look in their startup folder and list what is there.

1. Click Start
2. Programs
3. Startup

List what is in there.

Also
1. Click my computer
2. Click on the C: drive
3. Click documents and settings
In there you will see a few folders. ONe is listed with the login name you have and another is All Users. List what is in these folders.
