More often than not, I get this message when trying to play a link, many of them proffered on this forum.

"Windows Media Player cannot play the file because a network error occurred. The server might not be available. Verify that you are connected to the network and that your proxy settings are correct."

It's hard to believe that so many sites are just overloaded or 'not available'. Any Ideas?

PB, I am using Trend Micro antivirus and firewall.

I will try to find a link and post it here later. Seems I just saw one, here on iboats but could not find it with a quick looksee.

I gots to go out and clean the garage now. Mrs Boomyal is getting mad at me for having to park her new toy out in the driveway.

PierBridge, here is one that was just posted by EEboater:

http://www.camo-store.com/download_files/Free Stuff - Military Police AA-12.wmv

It also does not work.

UPDATE: I just turned off my TrendMicro Firewall and this link worked. The firewall seems to be the origin of my problem with WMP. I will look for configuration adjustments or email TrendMicro.

Thanks for the hint PierBridge.

Re: Windows media player? UPDATE

I just spoke with TrendMicro support. They had me select the 'Home Network' profile for the firewall settings. Previously I had the 'Direct Connection' profile selected.

I now have access to Windows Media Player so bring on all those funny and interesting links. :)
