Will this lower unit fit?

I need to repair/replace the lower unit on my 2001 Johnson 175 Ocean Series. I found a bad 1996 175 hp Johnson engine with a good lower unit. Would the 1996 fit the 2001 directly? The model number on the 2001 is J175VXSIF I'm waiting on the modle number of the 1996. The lower units visually look the same.
