Will older style trim pump work with Alpha 1, Gen1?

I am repowering my boat from an older (mid-70's) 2.5L to a mid-80's 3.0L and changing from an 'R' style transom assembly to an alpha one, gen drive assembly. The old drive had the narrow style trim rams (narrower that the A1,G1). Can the old trim pump be used with the new drive?

The old pump is the type that mounted to a bracket on the inner transom plate if that helps. Photo of similar trim pump is attached.

having not tried it as long as the new hoses can attach to the pump, hydrolic fluid doesn't care how its pressurized.
