Will my boat pull a wake board?

I have a 1988 Cajun fish & Ski 17ft with an OMC 3.0l (130hp) I/O It pulls two on a tube fine. It runs tops (with just me in) at about 31mph @4800 revs. It feels a lot faster but that is what my speedo reads (how accurate it is I don't know) I am running a 17 pitch prop.
Will it pull a wakeboard? I am not looking to do competition jumps - just merely a beginner looking to ride the wake.

Thanks.

You should be fine. We use a 3.0L merc and it's OK for me at 230lbs.

Hi, we have a 175 Bayliner with a 3.0L I/O and it pulls wakeboards real easy even pulls slalom skiers up easy, as long as you prop it right you'll have allot of fun,
We run a13" 22P-4 blade prop on our boat and it will WOT @ 42Mph

Agree with posts. You should not have problems pulling a wakeboarder. Just practice with your riders and starting. It is a bit different than starting a skier. Skier: typically I will "WOT" quickly until skier is out and wakeboarder I will ease into WOT to get wakeboarder out. Surface of the wakeboard can make it hard to hold onto the rope if boat slams out too quickly (IMHO)

On the contrary I have a 3.0L 135HP on my 18ft stingray with a Quicksilver 22p 4blade and even mash the trottle all the way with my 115lbs girlfriend. Any less and i get complaints fro the riders for more gas. Guess everyone is different though

Could be the difference in 5" of pitch...

Good point in that there are differences. 19 ft Maxum with 5.0 220HP and High Five. I think the power of the smaller V8 works great for this size boat and our recreation activities. I have driven the 18 ft Maxum with the V6 power and had to drive it the same as tgell to get riders out.

Just .02 for "Loo a vul, KY" to have fun adding wakeboarding.

I have a 16.5 run about with a 50 hp on it still pulls wakeboarders no problem, the proper wake speed is between 18-25 mph if that helps you any.
