Will Lower unit Off A 05 Johnson fit a 1989 Johnson..

Have a 89 25Hp Johnson with a bad lower unit. Found a lower unit off a 25Hp Johnson 2005 year model. Will it fit my 89 Johnson? Ready to get back on the water...have the fishing bug.

Yes it will work as long as the 2005 is a 2 stroke. If the drive shafts are different lengths you will have to change it out.

Both are short shat motors. Thanks for any help or advise. Keith

You should be good to go then. Don't forget to install a new water pump impeller while the lower unit is off.
