Will a 74 evinrude 70 hp lower unit interchange with 79 johnson lower unit 70 hp?

Technically yes the part numbers for both L/U castings are the same. However drive shafts and other bits may not interchange. Go to http://www.marineengine.com or shop.evinrude.com and start comparing part numbers. Good luck.
