will double oil hurt motors?

I am changing motors. The Evinrude I have on my boat now (225) I have running on premix as I doscoed the VRO when I got it. I am replacing it with Twin Johnson 150 Oc Runners which still have the VRO on them. Will it hurt them to run through the 100 plus gallons of premix still in my tank, or do I have to waste the gas?

They might smoke a little bit but shouldn't hurt them at all.

I thought that running more oil than gas raised operating temperatures? Why couldn't you just not fill up the VRO and let it run dry while you burn up the remaining premix in your tanks? Not real sure how VRO works.

Running the premix and oil in the VRO will not hurt the engines. They will smoke a little more that is all. 50:1 premix and oil in the VRO is the recommended way to break the engine in when new or after a rebuild.

Well, to use up that fuel mix, you'll be able to feel a lot safer about running your motor at WOT. You won't hurt it a bit.

At most it will shorten the life of the spark plugs a little.

I'd far rather change plugs than rebuild a motor.

That doesnt really happen any more either with todays oils. Technology has brought us a long way. I have motors that I run at 12:1 and the plugs are fine.

Some say it will lean the engines out by replacing gas with oil. I Have an 89 225 i used to run heavy on the oil and it would just load up a little at low speeds and smoke a bit but it should not hurt the engine.

So !! Who are we to make happy == The Oil Companies by burning a bit more oil and extending the life of the motor ??
OR == The EPA and Motor manufacturer by Not smoking a bit in the harbor and have motor crap out ??

Thank all who responded....Good news that I don't have to drain out $500 bucks worth of premixed oil and gas....that's more than enough for another Tuna trip...
