Will a prop from a alpha 1 gen 2 fit on a alpha 1 gen 1?

I have a alpha 1 gen 1 outdrive and am wondering if a prop from a alpha 1 gen 2 will fit on it?

Yes.

FYI, there is no such thing as an Alpha 1 generation 1 outdrive.

Actually folks, if you were to google "history of Mercruiser Alpha 1 drive"; you would see references to gen 1 and gen 2.

It's not uncommon for professionals to refer to the earlier Alpha 1 drives (prior to 1992) as generation 1.

I would feel confident(without looking things up) that if it's a 1983 or newer, they all (4-3/4 hub;15 spline shaft)use the same props.

Ayuh,.... Actually, All of the early MC-1s, MRs, Rs, Alpha 1s, Alpha Gen.IIs, the Bravo Is, 'n the Large gear case outboards can run the Same props...

The earliest MC-1s use a different thrust hub, but again, the Same props...

Thanks for the reply guys. I got the the prop and it is interchangeable between the two drives.

yes the prop will fit,i switched out my 1990 lower because it was bad to an 1983 lower that was in good condition everything matched up ,except the shaft nut that holds the prop on from my 1990 is to small .
