Will a '89 OMC Cobra 4.3 outdrive work in place of my '86 OMC Cobra 4.3?

Hello, I have found a 4.3 V6 OMC Cobra Outdrive to replace my 1986 4.3 OMC Outdrive. Will these inner change. I have to know right away as I will be driving 5 hrs. away to pick it up if it will work. Thank you to all who respond.
