Curious,
my '75 evinrude cowl gasket is junk, found a decent '70 20hp cowl that appears to be different in overall shape, but the recoil cutout and the base look the same.
Anyone have an idea?
Thanks,
JBJ

Just cause the gasket is junk you're looking for an entire new cowling?

You just want a sleeper by putting a 20hp cowling on a 25 huh? You probably also put 9.9 cowlings on 15's! :)

Ha HA! :) I'd really like to get an old '57 18hp and put a 25hp powerhead under the cowl on it!
It's just that you can get a decent cowl with a good gasket in used condition for cheaper than a new gasket sometimes. Plus the gasket is NLA, and looks awful on this motor. I've put this motor back in really good shape and want to finish it off with a nice paint job since I have all the equipment and can do it inexpensively. Seems like folks don't even want to check the lower unit oil, compression, or even run it on the lake when the motor looks nice and runs good in a barrel. It's almost like the game warden stopping you and not even asking for your license! By gosh, I did all that work-----I WANT them to look at the lower unit oil!!!
:)
Later,
JBJ

BTW, anyone know if it'll fit?????????????????????

I found some weather strip at a local auto parts store that worked, not exactly the same but close enough. Do you a piece left that you can take in and try to compare?
