I'm noticing the progression of wild flowers in my area. We get a few months of various wild flowers here in the scab lands.

The first flowers to show this spring were yellow daisies.

Next came the wild onions.

Wild onions are all over the place.

Following the onions came some yellow bells.

Now the Arrow Leaf Balsam Roots are in full bloom.

My best display in the field.

I don't know what these are called. ??????

These are Oregon Grapes. The light blue berries are very sour but you can eat them if you can stand the sour taste.

More to come as the season progresses.

Does anyone else have wild flowers to enjoy?

No flowers but I have plenty of weeds ..
The county used to plant them along the roadways to keep from cutting the grass to save money ..That was pretty cool but they have not done that in years ..

Some of my flowers are weeds. We have Dalmation Toadflax that the county counts as weeds. They're sure hard to kill.

Then there are the dandelions that are always around. There were none here when we moved in but they came with the human activity.

If you drive to Alaska in May, you will see miles of dandelions blooming along the highway. The roadsides are solid yellow.

The best definition for a weed that I've heard is: "a plant out of place".

I hear you guys. We have around 4 months in the spring and early summer with a succession of flowers. I haven't seen the lady slippers yet but I see the wild iris's are coming up.

We have quite a few Mullen plants here but the county considers them noxious weeds. They are hard to get rid of with all the young plants that start. You'd think that all the quail would keep the seeds down.
