Hopefully someone can explain this. I had a bad alternator wire, and the boat killed my battery. I tried jumping it and it didn't work. I had disconnected the cables and taken the battery out, brought it to get it charged. When I re-enstalled it, the boat started up without any key in the ignition. All I did was hook up the terminals. Blew my mind. Is it something I small I am overlooking? ANY IDEAS PLEASE!!!!!!!!!! PS I have a new battery now, and it won't start.

Re: Wierd

To start with I would suggest you read suggestions for new posters at the top of each forum. Then read your post and tell us if there is enough info for anyone to help. My guess is someone wired your boat up wrong and that killed your battery but for anyone to help at all must know type boat, type motor, size motor, and exact details of what you mean by had a bad alternator wire. Need to know exactly what was done and if problems started before or after. Also more people will read your post if your subject line give them an idea of what it about.
Good luck

Re: Wierd

Foresteronw, It sounds like a wiring dilemma, check your ignition and starter wires. Try and find a schematic if you're not sure.

Re: Wierd

I think I have to post a reply like mattttt25 did to every question I ask. Why cant people answer the question asked instead of giving a lecture on everything under the sun? If you don't have enough info just say "not enough info" and move on. No one wants to be scolded like a 8 year old in English class. Also if the question has been asked already before and you don't feel like answering it again, don't. We talk about the same things over and over again at the shop in the morning and I have been doing flooring for 17 years. Imagine how many times I have been asked the same questions. I can see telling them "hay learn the proper way to ask me that question". Its called conversation. If everyone just did a search and moved on we wouldn't have any more questions to answer and this would be a reference site and no a message board.
P.S. foresteronw - Burning up a alt wire means you have something hooked up wrong. Like said before. Pick up a manual with a wiring diagram and start chasseing those wires. I would start with the alts wire.
