wich is better 1995 GM 4cyl or 1991 Mercruiser 6 cyl?

Please help me decide if buy 1995 Searpro citation 19' boat with 4 cylinders GM motor with Mercury Alpha I/O or
19f' 1991 Dinasty boat with 4.3 v6 chevy block ,wit Alphoone Mercruiser:% they both cost the same,but is my first time getting into inboard outboard motors,I know more is about outboards,but this season coming I'm going to tried inboard,please any help on making my mind up thank you,both boats are in great condition and they both cuddy cabyn I just want a family boat no skeen at all,well the 1995 is newer and better interior and the 1991 it doesn't look to bad also but it's a 4 years older they both run good,please help:%

The 4.3 will be faster......
The 140 will be better on gas.....
If I were sking or tubing, I would go for the v6.....
It really depends on what boat you like better......JK

is the 4 cylinders good for 6 people including me? the motor won't be to much force? it's is going to be a lot diference on saving gass with the 6 cylinders?

Six people?
Go with the V6....
The savings on fuel will not be that substantial with a 4cyl.....
The extra horse power will.......

If your boating full time with 6 people the 4 cylinder will be marginal at best

i have had the 19' cuddy with the 3.0 for 11years and 4 people is fine and 6 is a packed house and the boat is a DOG

is GM motor good they don't give to much problems?can i guet pars for this motor
or Mercruiser gives less problems ?wich is better motor or brand,or givess less problems?

In my opinion a 19' boat with a 3.0 is going to be underpowered. The real question is what do the shops in you area work on? My mechanic prefers to work on Mercuiser over Volvo outdrives.

so maybe a 6cyl would spend like a gallon more per mille than a 4cyl but is worth?about the boats witch one is build stronger?

I would go with the V6....

you will be unhappy to get the 4 cyl. esp with 6 adults, you might use 1 or 2 gallons less on a day outing with the 4. and who knows maybe in the future you or someone might like to try skiing or other watersports and then you won't have what you need. mine is close to that size, older and heavier but I got a v-8 305 and 6 or 8 adults is alot for that, get the 6

Ayuh,........ It's a Long,.... Long Story,.......
But,......
That boat under the Tarp there,.......
Started out Life with the Same 140hp, 181cid, 3.0l Chevy motor that You're looking at.......

I threw a 262cid, 205hp, 4.3l Chevy motor in it,+ ended up getting Better Fuel Mileage........

I Agree with what's been said here,....
The 4cyl. would be a Dog with 6 folks in it,......

Even if you throw in the fact that the Little motor comes with the Alpha 1, Gen II,...............

I'd Still go with the 6cyl. motor,+ the Alpha 1 drive............

on onother words the 4 cyl is good for 4 people not for six,because with six is going to be a dog wasting more gass?right but with 4 people is going to save gass and the motor is going to be allright ,yep I think im going for the six, is that gass is expensive here in NY and throught I would have save money on gass with the 4 cyl, thank you guys, The 4 cyl is 1995 is tha fuel injection ? and the mercury is 1991 is that carburator or fuel injector? I heard fuel injection saves gass?

gas is expensive everywere, but when you start boating, at least with me, the gas price didn't affect my boating. if something is fun and enjoyable sometimes, spending a few more bucks is ok. and your right the 4 will be working harder and will be using more gas and the engine won't last as long
