I have a 1999 ford ranger, and it came equipped with a flat for prong light plug. I just bought a boat, and the trailer has a round seven prong plug on it. So i went to the store and bought an adapter and hooked it up but when i plug it in i get nothing. Why

The ez reason is the trailer hitch isn't grounded well on the truck ball. Use a test light to be sure you have power to truck plug. Good luck. :)

Agree, probably a ground issue. Friend of mine had same situation with a new pop-up camper. The round 7 adapter had a ground wire that he had to ground to his truck chassis.

I have one of them adapters and mine is straight thru with no wires exposed at all.
Your trailer plug just plugs into it and then you plug the adapter into your truck.

But check to make sure you are getting juice at the back of your truck first and then plug the adapter into the truck and check it.
Nothing says you could not have got a bad one.
