Why tape the prop up? Here is just a good reason.

We had a warm spell, 36 degrees, and started on maintenance for customers. Of course this customer wanted his water pump kit replaced, gear oil changed and u-joints serviced.
A cold hard winter has little critters looking for shelter and seeing no tape over the prop I suspected I might encounter some thing...but not THIS !!!!
Would have been big trouble come spring !!!
Further inspection revealed that they had filled the exhaust bellows with "goodies"...acorns, seeds, corn and the alike.

wow, I never thought to cover the prop:facepalm: I just did my motor though and was rodent free. I did once have trouble starting my car after letting it sit and when it finally started it blew such stored goodies out the exhaust 50' behind the car:doh:

My friend that lived in the country stored his dirt bike in his garage. When he went to start it junk flew out as he revved it. The mice had made a nest in there over winter.

Wow never saw something like that, go figure those little guys get into everything.

Around hear the mud daubers are real bad and will fill up just about anything with mud.

One year over Christmas vacation we smelled chestnuts roasting on an open fire coming from my wife's Toyota. Lil critters had hid acorns on the exhaust manifold, LOL....

Wow, this thread needs to be attached to the end of that one from December 2013, there certainly were some smug answers in that one. Anyone searching that topic might find this thread a more logical ending to the questions raised there.

Let's not forget the familiar "clunk" of cats hitting the hood when caught sleeping in the engine compartment of an old truck or tractor being started in the winter. Happened all the time on the farm back in the 80's!

Ayuh,.... Ya can't seal up EVERYTHING, 'n if ya seal up 1 thing, the critters are just gonna find someplace else to camp out,...

I prefer to beat the critters back to the nitherlands by feedin' 'em,... ;)

All 'round All my properties, I have D-con bait stations hidden in a few spots,...
The little plastic trays, with the larger rat pellets in 'em,...

Out in the garage, I'll dig a part or something outa a junk pile, 'n it'll rattle,...
Flip it over, 'n D-con runs out,...
Some critter was hoardin' the stash,... Good thing I guess, the D-con was still workin',...
kick it back under the pile,...

Mice, 'n rats dry out before they rot, 'n sinks, thankfully,...
