Why is Tohatsu/Nissan grouped in with Honda?

Why is Tohatsu/Nissan grouped in with Honda as a single forum..I know Tohatsu makes Nissan and some small Mercury OB's but are they also making Hondas?

It's based on limited numbers of engines sold over the last 75 years. For example: Evinrude has x numbers of owners. Honda has .0000000x number of owners. Tohatsu has .000000x number of owners. Grouping two brands wilth a smaller ownership basis together cuts down on the number of topic headings and helps prevent "Lost Topic Syndrome". With the market share that Yamaha has now they should have a heading of their own. But, it would be a nightmare to move all the previous Suzuki posts out.

And here's me thinking that Honda/Tohatsu were grouped together because they are the most reliable outboards lol

No, its to prevent boredom of the Nissan/Tohatsu owners, so they can help someone out with their problems!

I agree moving groups would be a problem depending on the forum software they are using (vbulletin) and I suspect they are more interested in selling parts then mess with the forum--but this is sure they must realize-- they know how important the forum is to getting people to
the site, it's a priced asset which works for them 24/7..anyway but it needs care.

Tohatsu/Nissan should have been in Mercury's forum or Sub-forum not in Honda..if ya don't fix something early you always wish you had.

These boards have been in existence since long before the Tohatsu/ Mercury relationship was public to most folks....thus the reason that they aren't grouped together. Besides, any Tohatsu repair threads would quickly become lost in the sea of Mercury repair threads if they were grouped together.

Also keep in mind that the Tohatsu/ Mercury relationship CURRENTLY applies to the 30hp and under models....

The Mercury 40, 50, 60 are produced at the new Chinese production facility....
