Hi I Have A Omc Cobra 5.7 Why Is Shifting From Forward Or Revers Into Nuetral So Hard Forcing The Cable To Slip Off The Shifter In The Outdrive ?

disconnect remote shift cable at the shift plate and try shifting to see if the trouble is in the remote cable or lower cable.

There's no way for the cable to slip off the shifter in the outdrive, it's attached to the shift cable guide with a nut, the shift cable guide links the cable to the shifter, it is plastic and could be broken.

That begs the question, why did it break? Probably defective ESA.

What is your idle speed at? Is your ESA working? Can you shift it easier if the engine is not running? Are you talking about the bellcrank lever slipping out of the shift fork?

Its Very Hard To Explain But , In The Outdrive Theres A Part That The Cable Moves That Pushes The Gear Shifter Up And Down ,well The Cable Keeps Popin Off That

THE SHIFT CABLE GUIDE(END OF THE SHIFT CABLE) SLIPS OFF THE GEAR SELECTER HERE WHERE ITS SLIPPING OUT IN THIS PIC

The cable is connected to a bellcrank. There is no way that can slip off.
