Why is my EW4200D generator noisy & making white smoke ?

The white "Smoke" seems like steam, but starts straight away as soon as the generator is started. It is getting sea water
and runs for hours...it just makes a tinny popping noise and seems to run hot.

Head gasket !!!!!!!!!
