Regardless of whether we pull out today, tomorrow, in one month, one year or ten years, the only difference will be the number of dead Americans. There will be a civil war and the victor will kill lots of the other tribes and all of them will continue to hate Americans, Christians and Jews.

My solution is either wipe them all out and just take over or bring our troops home.

It may not be up to us....I lost the link, but it seems that the three Iraqi factions (Sunni,Shiites, & Kurds) have come to some sort of accord with regard to U.S. troop withdrawal by the end of 2006.....If the "official" government says,"Get Out!" what do you think "W" will do?.....JK

Sounds alright to me if we can bring our troops home. I would not give one American for the whole bunch in Iraq.

If there is an "Official Government" it will be controlled by W. So they will say what they are told.

can democracy be imposed?
NOPE!!! It has to come from within the country. If there way of live was prevalent in the world, would we be willing to change?

txswinner, you make some very compelling statements and your logic is not bad, for the "worst case scenario". I want to believe that the civil war will not happen. ( can you see my fingers & toes crossed?). I am not a blind optimist, ever, but I really think that a stable country will happen.
And in the other post, I never said I don't want our troops out of there (of course I want them home), I just don't want an artificial timeline. Bring em home when it's prudent & safe. However long it takes.
I also thought we needed to "take over" more than we did. But I am a dirty money grubbing capitalist. I thought we should be getting free oil for our troops' sacrifices!

People have been Dieing Ever Since............

The Defined "Enemy" is the Extremest Muslums currently Called Al-Quieda, said to be lead by Binladin,..........

I Much Prefer that the Main Battleground is Currently Bagdad,............ Rather than continuing the New York Battles.............

txawinner
I tend to agree. the whole deal was botched and in the wrong country to start with. Rumsfeld said the same thing, we could pay for the war with THEIR oil. only problem is its technically THEIR oil and not OUR oil so once we are gone its on the open market. not that technicalitys ever stopped anyone in the current or most past administrations.
but I dont think we should just walk out. we owe it to the Iraqi people to fix what we tore up and get them out of the situation we created.
but if nothing is done soon all the peoples in Iraq will start taking shots at us not just the imported terror cells that are training there.
staying the course is not an option unless ya like crashing on the rocks.

Re: Why I Say Pull Out

I believe that it was a bunch of lies that got us in there in the first place. But now that we are there we have to stay till there is some sort of stable government.

How many on this thread remembers the fall of Viet Nam? When we were flying out to the ships in helicopters when the enemy was marching into Saigon?

I don’t know how many on this thread remembers that far back but I sure do. I don’t want to feel that ashamed again. It was one of the worse times of my life .I wont go into the reasons but believe me it was. We have 160000 thousand troops In country I am sure you don’t want them to feel that way do you?

Also how about the Kurds how will they fair after we are gone? About as long as the Montagard fared in Viet Nam? My understanding is that they are not liked much by either the Shiite or the Sunni. They have been rather loyal to the west haven’t they?
