Just had a can of Rustoleum spray paint clog and fail before I used half of the can.As a matter of fact in the past 30+ years of boat maintenance and homeownership I dont recall ever being able to use an entire can of Rustoleum spray paint without it clogging and failing.NEVER!!! I wrote to Rustoleum a number of years ago stating this and they claimed that I was not using the cans correctly and their remedy was sending me a bag of approx 10 spray nozzles but guess what??? The nozzles were rarely the cause. The clog was in the can tip.I have never had this issue with Krylon and not even with the cheapie spray cans that HomeDepot or Walmart sells .Even with the turn can upside down and spray after each use routine to keep passageways clear, the same thing happens every time.NEVER BUYING RUSTOLEUM AGAIN!!! btw I recently found a used can of very old Pergament spray paint waaaay in the back of my garage.(Pergament went out of business approx 30 years ago) I shook it and sprayed it and it worked !!! Guess Rustoleum was not their supplier. Charlie

Shake until the steel ball knocks ALL that SLUDGE loose in the bottom. You should be able to slowly twirl the bottom around. And hear that ball rolling PERFECTLY free.
Some people are too fast on the spray button. That causes the lighter parts to spray out. Ruining the rest of the can.

Ahem , :D the ball will clink a little as it rolls over the seam in the side of the can
Dunno if it makes any difference but I hold the can upside down when shaking .
I certainly dont reccomend it but I have unblocked a can by pushing a bit of compressed air back into the can. Wear a face shield !

You guys are competing for the role of "Captain Obvious" ....Got nothing to do with shaking the can.I rotate the cans prior to using them .Rotate meaning store them upside down and right side up switching them over every so often and then I shake them plenty, before use during use (and if the can has not clogged yet)...after use. THAT is not the issue here. Charlie

Ha ha:p:LOL: captain obvious , well yeah thats what I was going for;) .....Vice Admiral Blockage . . I was just having you on .
Tell ya what tho , we get that rustoleum stuff here and I prefer it to a lot of other stuff specially if Im wanting a good job .
Blocked aerosols is a pi55off tho and I hear you . I have 2 at the mo,
a sporadic discharge can of CDT ( cutting , drilling tapping ) lube and a can of Rocol spray grease that squirts from everywhere but the nozzle . And who has ever got two applications out of a can of expanding foam .
