You go out fishing one day and you catch a decent amount of fish for the conditions, You go out the next day, same weather conditions, no storm coming or going, been the same Baro preasure for a week or more, same time, same everything, but you couldnt make a fish bite to save yourself. Talked to several people, same thing for them. Fish just got lockjaw!

Ive seen this happen many times over the years, never any real explination.

moon phase?

you caught all the fish?

fish you caught & released yesterday posted their experience on the ifish forums?

you're trying to match yesterday's hatch?

you haven't got enough credits accumulated with The Big Guy to have two consecutive good fishing days?

operator error: conditions changed but you failed to detect it. water temp at various depths, or oxygen level, thermocline, clarity?

you used a different oil in your outboard?

Help me out, I'm just fishing here.

;)

Re: Why does this happen?

I think there was a special running at the local fish mart and all the fish were there getting great deals on their human lures. They were all too busy to take time for lunch.

OR, the local Fishy Lube at a sale on synthetic oil and there were all there stocking up.

OR, oh never mind, guess they just weren't hungry.

Re: Why does this happen?

jtexas nailed it luby:
MOON PHASE:
I will add that the position of moon is the most important factor . Best time is when the moon is directly overhead or 12 hour later when under foot. Also the phase of the moon has a lot to do with it.

Same thing for deer movement.

Some may scoff at the moon position and phases for fish and wildlife activity/movement but not I. Allot a outdoor writers have written articles about this. I for one am a believer.
Lubedude keep a log or journal when you’re out fishing/guiding and see if it’s accurate. Let us know.
Good luck!

Look here
http://users.ameritech.net/paulcarlisle/MoonCalendar.html

I agree whole heartedly that moon phase can make drastic differences, but we are just talking about one day here. Cant imagine it could change that drasticly just overnight.

Anything is posable though.

Re: Why does this happen?

Luby it’s all about putting all of the pieces together for that day.
Watercolor, clarity, temp the water, water column, color selection, presentation, speed of presentation, structure, barometric PSI, I’ve missed a few.

Oh yea and when Jupiter’s 3rd moon is perfectly aligned with Mars. :D

Good luck:

Truer words were never spoken.

It can go the other way also.

I took a friend out for a boat ride the other day. He mentioned fishing for a bit and I had a couple poles in the rod locker so I said , "sure, probably wont catch anything but we can give it a try". It was about 1:00 PM, sun high in the sky, and wind was blowing about 20 Knots. We fished for about half an hour in a shaded area and got nothing. Then I came to the beginning of the arm and cast way out into the wind over the outside of the point, wham, about a five pounder grabbed it, Now I know about points and wind, but it was in the middle of the day, hot and clear bright, and a suspending Rapala to boot.

You gotta spit on your hook. On day two you gotta spit twice.

Re: Why does this happen?

Sometimes, even on the same day they're biting the wind may blow your anchor loose and drift/drag you 5-6 feet. Your bite will be done unless you get back on that exact same spot. So if on the next day you went back to the same spot, unless sometimes you are on the SAME spot, you may not get a bite one.
