Why can't we just go back to the old software?

I mean I don't see any ads at the top of the page for us to buy things and our buying things is how you pay the bills and this stuff has been in a mess for a couple of weeks now and you still have bills to pay? And we get frustrated trying to make this thing work and just bale out and go off to other sites to do our boating blabbing.

Thanks,
Mark

I doubt that they could go back even if they wanted to. Upgrades are usually one way.

There were security problems w/ the old software. Protecting the host server, protects the forum, so I'm all for it.

I'm in for the long haul until it works.

Generally, I have no problem doing what I want, posting when & what I want, perhaps an extra step every now & again, but it is completely manageable. And considering how much larger this resource is, not 1 or 2 times bigger, more like 100times bigger, then any other forum I frequent, it is amazingly trouble free, significantly more then the others.

1 has less then 916 registered users, 30650 total msgs in 3845 threads & has stability issues regularly. The other has 9283 users, 92844 total msgs, in 12165, threads, and is down 3 or 4 (often more) times a week.

Versus here w/ over 400K threads (now called Topics) and signifantly more users.

Even in the buggy version we're currently suffering thru, it's better then any other, IMHO.

"You Can't Go Home Again" or "In for a penny, In for a pound". Really no direction to go but forward and try to resolve the software issues.

Yup, usually the case. Additionally, I read on the vBulletin Upgrade forum, that in order to downgrade, the process would be to convert to another forum package and then convert again back to the lower version of vBulletin . . . if that is even possible or practical. Probably won't happen.

The only practical way it could be 'downgraded', would be to restore the system from just before the upgrade and lose the posts since then. The security issues would still need to be addressed with an upgrade.

Going back to the older vBulletin would be very difficult. With the new version, they changed the database structure and added new things to the database. Part of the reason it was going to take so long in the beginning was because we had to convert the 4,000,000 + posts, 300,000 + members and 100,000 + PM's, etc.. over to the new database structure. We are working with the vBulletin team to get the issues resolved ASAP.
