Two weeks ago I unwrapped my boat after the winter and started her up with the ears on, no problem, she idled and I ran her up to operating temperature.
Last week I put her on the water, ran her up river slowly at around 1000 - 1500rpm to warm her up and make sure there were no problems all seemed OK so I gave her some throttle to get up on the plane and she died on me after about 2000rpm. Started OK again and idled OK so gave it another go and died again.
Engine is a volvo 431A - AQ205SP V6 4.3
The problem got progressively worse and in the end wouldn't even sustain tick over. Manhandled her back onto the trailer and gave up. Any ideas out there. Thanks.

yes, water in the fuel. do you have a fuel/water seperator? if you dont, you should. i do.

drain out some of your fuiel, like a gallon or so snd check for water.

this is a fairly common thing after winter storage. cold, then not cold, condensation...etc etc etc

Re: Why can't I go fast ?

Water would have killed it at Idle earlier as well as at a higher throttle setting.
Sounds like a possible fuel delivery issue to me...
If the boat was stored properly, the tank was full, and if it was, there's no room for condensation.
You don't mention si or Gsi, so I'm assuming carbs??? If so, I'd be looking at a fuel pump problem or even a vent-line plugged.
