iboats has become one of my favorite places to visit and I very much enjoy reading the threads about boat restorations. But I have to ask, why do people attached such tiny little images?
Maybe there should be a sticky with instructions on how to use photobucket or the like?
Even after opening some of these images, the details are missed due to the lack of resolution or picture size. I know a bigger pic won't make up for a lousy photo, but it would help.

Moved this thread to the proper forum, might want to look a the stickies at the top of this new forum
Have you clicked on the image? It may be nothing more than a thumbnail and will open a larger image.
Sometimes you may have to click on an image up to 3 times to get to full size.

It's also possible that people may be posting pictures of a thumbnail, and not the real picture.

Re: Why all the small pics?

I posted a walk through on how to setup and use photobucket. It's on the front page in this section still. People didn't seem to think it was needed, but I think it's just that 4-5 clicks to do anything on a computer is just over the older generations head. Not a bad thing, just the way it is. I can't fix my own boat motor...so we're even, lol

I'm guessing people are just uploading thumbnails and that's why it's small. On the other hand, and not that this place isn't awesome!!!, but it's not the only fishing forum on the net and most sites don't allow the uploading/attaching of pictures. Getting use to using photobucket has it's advantages overall.

Re: Why all the small pics?

Ever since the new format was in place it is easier to host the pictures on the board. The problem is that it compresses them down and makes them small. I hate to click pictures, and just like to see them large in the thread. It is a little harder to figure out the photobcket thing now, as there are more steps.

I am going to update the picture posting info for the way the new forum software works. It's easy to post full size pictures, one just needs to watch the size of the picture he posts so it doesn't need a scroll bar to view it all.

I also hate having to click on each picture. I just want to see them as I'm reading. It flows with the story much more nicely.

after reading my "intro to photobucket" thread's responses, looking in those sticky posts might take too many clicks :D

It takes a lot longer to explain how to post pictures than it actually takes to post them.
This one took about 40 seconds to post

True. Not really what I was saying, but true none the less. Eating ice cream takes less time than making ice cream, but that doesn't mean learning how to drive to Safeway instead of just going to the corner store won't get you more options in the long run. :D

But your picture is from Photobucket, mine was from my computer and I didn't have to upload it to an outside source.

But once it's up there, I can post it on any site and access it 5 years from now.

Like this fun picture I took in 2004...

And when Photobucket decides to change the location(new link) slightly in a few years or you decide to change your account name, all the photobucket pictures linked from here won't show up anymore.

I personally host them myself, since I have a website, which also takes around 40 seconds to do.

Re: Why all the small pics?

My 2003-2004 pictures are still up and linkable from photobucket. If people can't figure out how to use the attachment system here, and can't follow my walk through for photobucket, what makes you think they'll be able to set up their own website for hosting and want to pay for it?

Also, with the new advertising system photobucket has set up, I think they'll be fine on keeping their location for a long time. Especially if they've been in the same spot for 9+ years at least.
