Whitehall, NY Locks

While I was traveling today I took a few minutes to watch the locks which are very busy at this time of the year.

300' long 44' wide and a 16' depth change all in about 6 minutes. The water is let into the locks via valves and exits the same way.....no pumps involved.

Pretty neat, such a simple concept with such amazing benefit!
Never seen those locks but have been to Niagra and the Soo a few times, cool way to kill a little time.
