[WHIT80]

I have a 1967 golden meteor hydro elec. that has reverse gear but little or no forward this is my first boat it is a 1972 mfg with that motor i dont know weather suspect the controls or the lower unit,any help would be apprecated.

I think you have an electramatic shift lower unit, it uses coils and springs to shift the lower unit. Remove the two shift wires (blue and green) going to the lower unit, use a jumper wire and try and shift gears and see if forward works. If it does you probably have a shift switch or a wiring problem. If it doesn't shift with a jumper wire the problem is in the lower unit or wires going down to the lower unit.

Have you got the proper oil in it ?? Should be type "C" oil or OMC Premium Blend.
