Hi, I need to replace (4) wheel bearing caps on the boat trailer. I am wondering if the bearing caps with rubber center work when submerged or is it just an unnecessary risk. Otherwise I guess the bearing buddy is just what to buy. Any input?
thanks jim

All work well if used properly... Bearings still need serviced at least every other year even with any type of bearing buddy system. To many install them then forget about them until something bad happens. Or they overfill and blow out the seals. I have used a few different brands and models with no issues, however I still maintain my hubs regularly even with grease hubs !!

my initial thought was that if i went with the cap with a rubber face it would be quicker to verify that a seal has not failed and let water past into the bearings.I seem to have that problem with my tandem trailer

The seals usually fail from the back side, just look back there for signs of grease comming out. Most seals fail from over filling, most greasable hubs have some type of way to tell when they are filled.
