I'm trying to figure out which type of Teleflex NFB steering system I should (can) use with my 140HP Mercruiser, Safe T II or 4.2? All the info I have seen indicates a V6 outboard up to 50MPH should use the Safe T II, while an I/O should use the 4.2 helm.
V6 outboards have more power and are faster than my I/O (I top out at 35-40), so why can't I use the Safe T II NFB helm? On the flip side, my 140HP I/O is the darn near the smallest I/O made, so why should I use the 4.2 helm that can be used with a 250+ HP I/O?
