Which steering cable??

I'm replacing the steering in an 1970 Larson w/ 1986 60 hp Evinrude. Question, the old cable is marked OMC500195, 6713. Does OMC sell these, and will one of the Teleflex systems fit, or will I have to buy the whole kit. If I go Teleflex, which one is the correct. Another question--is NFB worth the extra $$ on a 60hp?

no feed back rotary is worth the money on any motor. until you get to the big ones, and is still great, but hydrolic is best on the big ones. you have the original system. upgrading with the new system is worth the money.

I have used both rack and pinion and rotary. Can't say I have a preference. I don't know if Teleflex-Morse No Feedback Steering is available with rotary; back when I had rotary, NFB had not been born. I have it on the current rack and pinion and will not be without it again.

On 60 hp you will be good to go with a single cable and they will help you get the right cable/system if you go with a new system. They have a www site.

Just try to reduce the amount of bends (zig zags) and keep all bends nice and smooth.....as large a radius as possible. One kink and you are dead meat so be careful installing.

Take a look at the Teleflex Bay Star system. Made for a smaller h.p. boat.

Thanks for the replies. Couldn't find matching part# on BRP site, so I will go Teleflex. Confused about designations "QC" and "Safety T". Also, the helm seems in good shape so do I have to replace helm also? Thanks again

i would do the whole system, rather than take a chance trying to match parts. call teleflex give the the numbers you have they may have the cross match.

Thank you all for the input. I will go ahead and spend the $$$ for NFB complete kit as I know trying to cobble into what is there would be harder. Thanks again.
