which steering cable?

Following by son's weekend borrowing the boat I need to replace the steering cable. Its the arm thats bent in fact. <br />Trouble is, I've got the cable off and there's no marking on it to tell me what make it is. There doesn't seem to any marking on the drum thing behind the steering wheel either.<br />How can I tell what cable I need to buy as a replacement?

The drum thing is the helm, and should be replaced with the cable as a set. Pull the steering wheel and you will see the bolts that hold the helm. Carefully measure the cable length and get the whole set from Teleflex, you can order from any boat shop or marine type magazine.

Thanks. Thats sorted. New cable and helm. What a *** getting the steering wheel off though.
