Hi folks,
Can someone tell me which spanner I'll need to buy to remove the caps from and rebuild the trim cylinders on a Bravo One stern drive serial# 0D403732 ?

Thank you,
Ray

There is from mercury an adjustable tool for varying dimensions to remove the cap. Basically a very beefy tuning fork looking tool that has multiple holes at varying distances and pins that allows the user to adjust for the specific dimension. I have never had any luck using the tool and really have only rebuilt trim rams if parts are on hand and replacement rams are unavailable.

If you must rebuild the ram I suggest using an adjustable spanner wrench, looks like a saw buck, to remove the caps

Built my own. Get a decent length of 1/2" bar. Cut a groove in it. Drill holes that match the holes in the end cap and drive a couple of high tensile screws with the thread cut off into it... Instant 'special tool'...

Cool, so an AR15 upper wrench has the same size spanner on it? Good to know!

  • The “AR” in “AR-15” rifle stands for ArmaLite rifle, after the company that developed it in the 1950s. “AR” doesn’t stand for “assault rifle” or “automatic rifles as often mentioned by news channels or politicians that are against them. https://www.nssf.org/msr/

'Assault rifle'... That sounds a bit like something the army would have. Why would a private citizen have one of those? Aren't they banned?

No, people use them over here to massacre children. But this will quickly get political...

Yes, pretty volatile subject here in the US. May as well talk about politics or religion. There's a definate line drawn in the sand.

Nope, not banned though some US States are way more heavily regulated while others are a bit more lenient of everything related of buying, owning, storing, transporting, usage, number of cartridge/magazines that hold the ammunition, reasonings of ownership, etc..

The higher number of bigger mass shootings over the somewhat seemingly recent years are not helping things out any enough that now politics and news outlets are seemingly making good people seemingly bad to where it’s a continual battle of one’s side of view of another and what to do with them (AR) and becoming just guns in general too.

(My view) Either way one judges a view of justifying owning these types for reasonings of personal preferences of usage, at least for now they (guns) are all generally protected under the second amendment of which as time goes by sometime seems the Constitution of the United States is slowly eroding away from within regarding certain aspects… Time may tell… I believe Australia went away from owning any guns and I believe as of possibly today Canada also went away from owning them too in certain aspects.

The AR spanner tool reference above was something I had just recently learned myself only after reading the topic posted so figured I’d share the findings especially since the cost seems somewhat reasonably priced vs others or some may already own one which is the subject at hand that even we’ll have to get back on track here ourselves because after all it’s iboats boating forums of no politics. ;) :)
